The administration of the State Enterprise “TajikNIIGiM” and the responsible executors of the research work on the topic “Development of an irrigation regime for agricultural crops in the context of climate change in the Republic of Tajikistan” starting from March 2025 conduct regular business trips to cities and regions of the country to identify and select experimental sites for 6 main agricultural crops depending on soil and climatic conditions, terrain and water consumption of agricultural crops.
To date, scientists of the institute (Dr. of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Pulotov Ya.E.; PhD, Associate Professor Umarov D.M., PhD Sanginova B.S., PhD Jabborov P.N. and hydraulic engineer Olimov K.Z.) have selected experimental sites in Bokhtar, Shaartuz, Faizabad, Yavan, Dangara, Bobodzhon Gafurov, Penjikent, Matcha, Muminabad and Rushan districts, and have carried out explanatory work on the conduct of scientific work.
It is worth noting that scientific field work will be carried out in 11 natural and economic regions of the country, and over the course of five years of research, the irrigation regime for each agricultural crop will be substantiated and determined depending on the hydromodular zones.
The research will be conducted jointly with the Farming Research Institute, Soil Science and Agrochemistry Institute of the Tajik Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Institute of Water Problems, Hydropower and Ecology of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, the Tajik Agrarian University named after Shirinsho Shokhtemur and the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
