On the initiative of the State Enterprise “TajikNIIGiM” of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan, was conducted a training-workshop on the topic: “The Role of Forest Cover in Improving Watershed Management” on February 26, 2025 in the conference hall of the Rumi Hotel in Dushanbe.
The purpose of the training-workshop: to bring together relevant stakeholders and representatives of government agencies, local communities and academia to discuss forest fire risks, threats and opportunities for their prevention in river basins; to identify knowledge gaps and select forest fire risk assessment indicators for inclusion in a potential forest fire risk assessment panel.
The event was moderated by Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Pulatov Ya.E.
Speeches and reports were heard from representatives of the SE “TajikNIIGiM”, the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Forestry Agency under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), the Tajik National University, the Tajik Agrarian University named after Shirinsho Shotemur, the Institute of Water Problems, Hydropower and Ecology of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan and the Public Association “Umedbakhsh”.
