The President and the Prime Minister inspected the construction of the Rogun HPP

The country’s leadership visited today the main construction site of the republic – the Rogun HPP. Here, the President launched the first stage of the conveyor line, which will deliver crushed stone and sand to different sections of the HPP.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and Prime Minister Kohir Rasulzoda left early in the morning for the construction site of the Rogun, where they got acquainted with the construction of the giant Tajik hydropower, the press service of the head of state reported.

The leaders of Tajikistan held a meeting with the builders of all 72 sections of the hydropower plant, which work in three shifts work is carried out here around the clock.

The head of state got familiarization with the construction of the first stage of the Rogun dam. The President urged builders to pay special attention to the quality of work, effective use of equipment and machinery that were imported from abroad.

Then the president launched the first stage of a conveyor line with a length of 4.2 thousand meters, through which building materials will be delivered to different sections of the HPP. The equipment for the conveyor line was purchased from Italy, Germany and France. More than 3 thousand tons of sand and crushed stone can be delivered through it hourly to different parts of the HPP.

The press service of the head of state notes that the construction of the Rogun HPP is under the personal control of Emomali Rahmon.

The construction of the HPP has been carried out by the Italian company Salini Impregilo since October 2016.

At the end of January this year, the head of the company, Pietro Salini, following a meeting with the president, told reporters that the launch of the first turbine of the Rogun HPP would take place on November 16, 2018. It is expected that the second unit of the station will start working next spring. The height of the rock-fill dam of the HPP will be 335 meters. $ 1.95 billion will be spent on the construction of the station. In general, according to preliminary data, about $ 4 billion is needed at the Rogun HPP.
